Some things are just made better. A chair that holds its form after fifty years. A kitchen appliance built from cast iron and solid metal, not plastic. They’re proof that someone once cared about what they were making.
The work here is mostly repair and restoration. KitchenAid mixers that deserve better than a landfill. Danish furniture that just needs someone to care about it again. Stoves that need de-rusting and a polish. I hope this website can grow into something that supports restoration, repair and reuse. Both by trading and selling parts and by sharing knowledge.
There’s a sustainability angle to all of this, though that’s not the main pitch. Well-designed things are worth saving — and repairing them is usually more interesting than buying something new.
